It’s about finding what works for each person or group of people.

How do I know if Shari's the right fit for me?

  • To get an idea of what music therapy with Shari is like, you might like to first meet and make some music with Shari, and talk about what might work. It might be a one-time consultation, or block of 3 -10 assessment sessions.
  • If you, or an organisation you are part of, are interested in hearing more about music therapy Shari is also able to offer presentations and experiential workshops.
  • Read more about Shari here to learn about how she works.

What kinds of sessions and how long?

Shari provides weekly sessions, same time, same place. The kind of session and how long depends on you:
  • Individual session, usually 30-60 minutes
  • Pair/Group session, usually 60-90 minutes
  • Family/whanau session, usually 60 minutes
  • Half/full day in a setting, including a combination of group and/or individual sessions, as negotiated
Sessions are held weekly - this is an important part of the therapeutic process. In certain circumstances sessions might be offered as a one-off or block of sessions.

What does Shari's time cover?

  • Delivery of the session itself
  • Set up and pack up
  • Planning and preparation, including ensuring evidence-based practice
  • Resources including session and professional aspects
  • Clinical notes
  • Session video indexing and/or review (where filming is appropriate and agreed with you/the facility).
  • Parent/carer/care worker liaison
  • Assessment and progress review meetings and reports
